The 5th grade students created a Virginia cookie. They colored the regions a different color, used licorice as the fall line, used blue licorice as the four major rivers, chocolate chips for the Appalachian Mountain chain, and a star in the Appalachian Plateau where we live. We completed this as part of our review during the SOL Kickoff the week before SOL Testing.

Time Travelers Reporting

The 7th grade classes were asked to choose any person from 1865 to the present. They were to create a one page report based on accurate historical information that they have learned. They were to become that person or character. The story or experience that they would report on could be true or made-up as long as it contained true historical facts. The students could use a prop, such as a hat or apron to create their character. These students went above and beyond to create a truly entertaining event.
